Responsibilities Job Summary:
As a Sr Manager of UTV Studio Payroll, you will be a key member of a high-performing studio payroll team and will play an integral role in modernizing process improvements. The UTV payroll department is responsible for processing above the line payroll for network, cable and SVOD distributed productions. The successful candidate should emphasize cross-functional collaboration with all business partners for process improvements and efficiencies. The individual will partner closely with our internal teams (HR / Business Affairs / Legal / Production) to provide our production employees with a first class onboarding and payroll experience. One must have extensive knowledge of guild requirements, specifically SAG, AFTRA, WGA and DGA. A successful candidate for this position will be an individual who has leadership discipline, strong analytical skills, and the desire to drive improvements and continuously simplify processes. He/she will work closely with payroll providers and production accountants in processing, editing and approving talent payroll. In addition, the individual will support labor relations and production finance in ongoing analysis of guild and union escalations and contract renegotiations.
Ensure an accurate and timely payroll, including but not limited to: weekly & episodic comp, series sales bonuses, royalties, payroll taxes, PH&W, statutory and supplemental benefits, etc.
Onboard new production personal in coordination with BA, Production and Finance.
Distil and breakdown long-form contracts, transcribe into schedules and circulate for proper approvals.
Liaise with Labor Relations, Production Finance, Internal Audit, Finance Ops, Treasury, and IT to ensure payroll policies are current and effectively implemented.
Work with production controllers and show accountants on a day to day basis to drive accurate, complete and timely payroll.
Identify problem and/or issues as quickly as possible including breakdown in communication between departments, UPMs, producers and accountants. Furthermore, inform Labor Relations of payroll issues with potential exposure to penalties.
Approve and authorize release of payroll edits.
Assist in the training and mentoring of junior payroll coordinator staff with the goal of developing stellar talent.
Candidate will consult on deal structure for contracts.
Travel to production locations to perform on-site payroll training (Payroll 101 Workshops), review work flows, organizational abilities and effectiveness of payroll accounting staff.
Maintain knowledge of current industry trends pertaining to union MOA updates, rate increases and compliance issues.
Intermediate/Advanced experience with Excel and other Microsoft / Apple products.
Advanced understanding of Show Biz Time Cards.
Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Vista5, PSL, and Ease products.
SAP experience preferred but not required.
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must have 7+ years of film and/or television industry production accounting, and at least 3+ years of production payroll experience.
Willingness to travel (domestic and international) and work extended hours if needed.
Must have work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
