Job Purpose:
We are seeking a detail oriented Corporate Assistant Accountant to join our accounting team.
This position is a key member of the accounting team with responsibility for aspects of accounts receivable billing, treasury, preparing journal entries and the accounting for credit cards and personal reimbursements.
Essential Responsibilities:
Prepares accounts receivable billings.
Tracks credit card expenses and travel and entertainment expenses using Concur System.
Records journal entries including recurring and non-recurring items to keep ledger up to date and accurate.
Assists with reporting functions such as month end close.
Reconciles subsidiary detail to general ledger balances, including balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assists in various treasury functions such as “e-deposits.”
Assists in creating intercompany invoices and reconciling intercompany accounts.
Assists with Accounts Payable functions.
Other accounting functions and projects as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Must be able to work independently (self-starter) and a good team player.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
MS Excel and MS Word proficiency required.
Working knowledge of Navision accounting software is preferred.
Familiarity with the entertainment industry desired but not required.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must adhere to strict confidentiality policy and have a strong sense of integrity.
Eligibility Requirements:  College degree
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.

Production Accountant needed in-house (L.A.)

Looking for a Production Accountant to work in-house at an independent digital film/TV studio based in Los Angeles with multiple projects in production simultaneously. Role of the Accountant will be to liaise between both the finance and physical production divisions of the studio and the accounting departments of each production company. Additionally, this position will act as the Lead Accountant of any projects that are produced in-house and be responsible for hiring any additional accounting staff if needed. A basic list of job responsibilities would consist of the following.
Accounts Payable
Production Payroll (and working with the various payroll companies)

Bank account and credit card statement reconciliation

About the position:
Works directly with clients to process film payroll by communicating payroll procedures and legal requirements to clients, gathering the necessary and proper documentation to process payroll, calculating time reports, inputting payroll documentation and time reports into the company accounting system, sending payroll checks/payments, and managing client billing and special requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned.
Communicates the payroll process and necessary regulations to clients, conveying requirements and policies that apply to their involvement in the process and establishing the minimum expectations of the service.
Collects from client, payroll documents such as forms W4, I9, and/or W9, union contracts, escrow agreements and proof of advance payments, direct deposit forms, various time reports, and all other documents required by law and/or company policy.
Routinely reviews and analyzes all new hire paperwork for legal compliance, policy compliance, and complete execution.
Inputs necessary documentation into the accounting system/payroll software with special attention and care to names, addresses, talent authorizations, Coogan account forms, and W4 information.
Calculates timecards, SAG/AFTRA Exhibit G’s, background talent vouchers, and other union specialized time reports with complete adherence to federal, state, local, and union labor laws/regulations.
Must regularly check work for accuracy and maintain a 95% average accuracy rate for work that will be randomly and periodically audited by a supervisor or other member of the management team. Items of work that may be audited, but are not limited to this list, are calculated timecards, address rosters, and client invoices.
At all times maintains a roster of each project’s employees, their rates of pay, guarantees, special pay items, and all other information necessary to meet client needs and requests and ensure that payroll is processed accurately.
Provides timely payroll edits to clients and, as needed, explains/discusses the edits with clients to optimize client understanding and communication.
Prepares and sends payroll checks according to client needs, with ultimate deference to legal parameters and union requirements pertaining to the disposition and timeliness of payroll checks.
Interprets client agreements to ensure proper billing of all contracted services, adherence to company billing policies and practices, and special services outside the scope of usual payroll production.
Maintains the necessary cash flow in client accounts, communicating low balances or potentially low balances in a timely fashion and providing all reports necessary to facilitate additional payments needed.
Provides standard, as well as special reports, to clients weekly, and upon supervisor approved requests, respectively.
Initiates replacement payroll check requests, final cast list generation, and special production accounting reports according to prior agreements or new requests as needed and approved by a supervisor.
Presents all weekly invoicing/billing reports to fellow Payroll Coordinators for review, checks and reviews the same invoice/billing reports for fellow Payroll Coordinators, and submits all completed reports the supervisor by no later than end of day Friday every week.

This role will be an end-to-end functional role involved in all aspects of Pre-Production, Production and Post/Wrap phases of physical production accounting. You will work in a pod structure paired with a production finance executive which will also serve as a ground up training program.
